Illegal internet downloaders may face connection slowdown - Times Online

People who persistently download music illegally may have their internet connections slowed rather than cut off.

Ben Bradshaw, the Culture Secretary, said that the Government would announce legislation in the Queen’s Speech, but added: “Our thinking is still evolving. One idea, that people could retain e-mail but have their ability to download cut, is a useful contribution.”

Feargal Sharkey, chief executive of UK Music, said that the recording industry now had a united position after a series of artist disagreements. He said: “We have never called for people to be cut off from the internet.

“We have said action should be taken against the most egregious offenders, who fail to respond to written warnings.”

What? No five-finger discounts on music? The Horror!!!
